UCL: There’s a small possibility Real Madrid vs Chelsea may not go ahead – UEFA

Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has mocked Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp after the German claimed that the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie was not held at a ‘proper stadium’.

Real Madrid sent Liverpool out of the Champions League with a goalless draw at Anfield after the Spanish giants had secured a 3-1 win in the first leg in Spain.

The first leg was played at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium, which is part of Real Madrid’s training complex in Valdebebas, as the Santiago Bernabeu is undergoing major renovation works during the pandemic.

And after Liverpool’s 3-1 loss in Madrid, Klopp aimed a dig at the LaLiga club’s decision to host the tie at the 6,000-seater stadium.

“It must be a really tricky task for Real Madrid at Anfield,” Klopp said after Liverpool’s defeat in the first leg in Madrid.

“This was strange tonight because it was really difficult with the stadium [at Madrid’s training ground] but Anfield is at least a proper stadium and it will be good for us.”

But in an interview with Spanish radio show El Larguero on Wednesday evening, Perez hit back at Klopp’s comments.

“I don’t know why he doesn’t like it,’ said Madrid’s president.

“For us, Valdebebas and Kiev is the same… 3-1. It’s the same pitch,” he said, referring to Real Madrid’s win over Liverpool in the Champions League final in Kiev in 2018.
