Spanish La Liga club, Villarreal, have confirmed that midfielder, Santi Cazorla, has decided not to renew his contract with the club amid reports linking him with a move to Arsenal.

Villarreal also disclosed that the 35-year-old would make his final appearance for the club on Sunday when they host Eibar in the La Liga.

Cazorla joined Villarreal in 2018 for his third spell at the club after leaving Arsenal following an injury-hit time at the North London club.

He played alongside current Gunners manager, Mikel Arteta for four seasons at Emirates.

“Villarreal have given me everything,” said Cazorla in a video posted by the club on Saturday.

“At the age of 18, they opted to sign a boy from Oviedo who knew no-one.

“I’m proud to be able to finish my career with Bruno. I hope that, as happened with my previous farewell match [when Cazorla left in 2006], it will be a “see you later.”

Cazorla scored 11 goals and provided nine assists for Villarreal in 34 appearances this season.
