We won’t change our identity -Malo – Sporting Life

Burkina Faso coach Kamou Malo has described their semifinal opponents today as a big armada, adding however that his team will not lose identity because of opponent’s pedigree. Malo who has been gingering his side to put every arsenal in the armory in today’s game expressed delight that the Stallions have been moving one step at a time and will continue in that fashion.

When asked about Burkina Faso’s approach to today’s game Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, he said: “First of all, it is to be ourselves. We are not going to change our identity because we are going to face Senegal.

“We already know that Senegal is a big armada. In any case, it is one of the best countries in Africa. When you face such a team, the main thing is to be yourself. We will not come to this competition with a mask, with an image that is not ours. No. We will keep our identity in the game,” he enthused.

Though both teams may not have won the Nations Cup in the past but they are no new comers to the championship.

Both sides were beaten finalists in 2013 and 2019 respectively and are hoping to take their effort to the next level by lifting the trophy.

Stallions will however be missing the services of Lorient youngster Ouattara, who scored the winner against Tunisia last time out before picking up a straight red eight minutes away from time. Senegal who have been doing well so far in defence conceeding just once in five games are likely to maintain same back four  of Bouna Sarr, Kalidou Koulibaly, Abdou Diallo and Saliou Ciss.
