West Bromwich Albion are back in the Premier League after a dramatic final day in the Championship.
The Baggies did it the hard way as they drew 2-2 against QPR which was ultimately enough to secure a return to the top flight, as Brentford were beaten by Barnsley.
Ryan Manning fired Rangers in front to threaten heartbreak for West Brom, but strikes from Grady Diangana and Callum Robinson triggered scenes of jubilation at the Hawthorns.
Eberechi Eze got QPR back on level terms but Albion held on for a point.
It means Brentford and Fulham are consigned to the playoffs along with Cardiff and Swansea as they bid to join West Brom and champions Leeds – who hammered Charlton 4-0 – in the Premier League.
The Bees lost 2-1 against Barnsley in the last ever regular-season fixture at Griffin Park, with the Tykes snatching a last-gasp winner through Clarke Oduor which had huge implications at both ends of the table.
The Cottagers came from behind to also draw 1-1 against Wigan at the DW Stadium.
Swansea miraculously made the top six by thumping Reading 4-1 and Nottingham Forest’s home defeat by the same scoreline against Stoke means the Swans crept into the playoff on goal difference at the expense of the Reds.
Meanwhile, at the bottom, Hull City were relegated after a dismal campaign as they were beaten 3-0 by Cardiff – a result which secured the Bluebirds’ top-six berth.
They will certainly be joined in League One by Charlton, while the other relegation spot will be subject of Wigan’s appeal against a 12-point deduction for entering administration.
