The January transfer of Nigeria international forward Terem Moffi to French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice from fellow Ligue 1 side Lorient has been explained by the sporting director of the club.

Moffi joins the club on a loan deal but Nice has an obligation to buy him permanently in the summer for a fee reported to be in the region of around €30 million ( 15 Billion Naira), regardless of his performance at the end of the season.

He joins the team with a healthy goal return of 35 goals in 90 league games for Lorient including 12 this season, which makes him the third highest goal scorer in the league this season.

Explaining why they decide to commit to a big money agreement, Florent Ghisolfi explained that the Nigerian fits the bill of the type of player they badly need in the team due to his qualities. The idea is to have him propel them to an European spot at the end of the season.

“Terem is able to play with his back to goal, to go deep. He is a modern attacker, very fast, very powerful. He has experience, fights for the team, he is able to multiply races while maintaining his lucidity in the zone of truth. In L1, it is already a reference. A new level awaits him in Nice, where he will discover the European Cup next spring and will be one of the strong men of the club’s high ambitions”, the director told the official website of the club.
