Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted after his angry display during Portugal’s 2-2 draw against Serbia in a World Cup qualification game on Saturday.

Ronaldo could not believe his bad luck after the referee got his goal disallowed because VAR was not there to help him.

Replay showed that the ball definitely rolled over the goal line after Ronaldo’s shot with even the Serbia players confirming it as goal after watching the replay.

Ronaldo was left fuming knowing that Serbia defender, Stefan Mitrovic cleared his stoppage time effort when the ball had crossed the line, and Dutch referee, Danny Makkelie, waved play on and showed the Juventus superstar a yellow card for protesting.

The former Real Madrid star took off the captain’s armband and slammed it on the ground in anger and this did not go down well with some Portugal supporters on social media.

After several minutes of reflection, the former Sporting Lisbon forward finally came out to react to what just happened.

Writing on Instagram, Ronaldo said, “Being captain of the Portugal team is one of the greatest pride and privileges of my life.

“I always give and will give everything for my country. That will never change. But there are difficult times to deal with, especially when we feel that an entire nation is being harmed.

“Lift your head and face the next challenge now! Let’s go, Portugal!”

Ronaldo is expected to lead his side in their next game which is against Luxembourg for the third World Cup Qualifier.

The European champions won their first game 1-0 against Azerbaijan and are second in Group A behind Serbia.
