On loan Napoli midfielder Michael Folorunsho has been told by the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria to pledge his international future to Nigeria ahead of Italy, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Born in Rome to parents of Nigerian descent, he is eligible for both countries but hasn’t been capped at any level, he missed out on a training camp with Italy last season due to a knock. This season he has really impressed for Hellas Verona.

Folorunsho who is on loan from Napoli stole the headline with a wonder goal in their 2-2 draw against league giants Juventus last weekend. It was his third goal of the season in 24 matches in the Serie A. He also has one assist.

The 26 year old has been approached by Peseiro on his international future and the response was said to be positive, however things will accelerate a lot faster when Peseiro whose deal will run out at the end of the month signs an extension reported to be for the next two years.

He has been monitoring the midfielder for a while, but kept the decision on hold as he was keen on working with the core of the team he met on ground in his bid to meet up with the target of reaching the AFCON semi final. Which the team did and went all the way to the final, where they were beaten 1-2 by the host.
