The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Saturday conducted its ward Congress with Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa also conducting his own parallel Congress in the state.
thedabigal reports that Marafa’s faction began its parallel Congress very early in the morning and ended at about 12:00 noon without any security challenge.
At the same time, the faction led by Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle also conducted its own Congress without any problem.
The Chairman of the committee sent from the party’s national headquarters, Alhaji Ibrahim Kabiru Masari, described the Congress as acceptable and fair, saying that the security operatives did their best to give adequate security.
He refuted the claim that there are factions in the state chapter of the party, pointing out that APC is one indivisible party.
He described the claim that there are factions in the party as mere speculation.
However, it was gathered that former Governor Abdul Aziz Yari warned his supporters not to participate in any of the Congresses, saying that he was respecting the court order.
Recall that the Yari faction had dragged the national caretaker committee, headed by Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, to court challenging the legality of the Congress in the state as all the stakeholders of the party were not properly informed.
thedabigal reports that the case is still in the court which will give its ruling on the 17th of November to determine whether the national caretaker committee has the constitutional power to conduct the Congress.
However, the national caretaker committee suspended Congress indefinitely but on Friday issued a circular that the Congress would hold in Zamfara State on Saturday 13th November 2021.
