Zamfara: NLC, TUC begin agitation for workers’ unpaid two-month salaries

Stakeholders of the Zamfara State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, have been holding a series of meetings over unpaid civil servants’ salaries and allowances in the state.

The two labour unions strongly condemned the nonchalant attitude of the Zamfara State government, which has refused to pay salaries of its workers for two consecutive months.

Lamenting that they have patiently waited for the salary to be paid, the two unions are demanding that the state government save the lives of workers and their families who heavily rely on salaries, which are their legitimate earnings and their statutory rights.

“We are concerned about how aggrieved the state civil servants are. However, we crave your indulgence, support, and cooperation as we move to fight for your rights. Therefore, we urge you to be more patient and persevere,” a statement from the unions affirmed.
