The Zamfara State chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, have decried the non-payment of two months salary of the state civil servants.

This was contained in a joint statement by the two labour unions, (NLC/TUC) signed by their Chairmen, Comrade Sani Halliru of NLC and Comrade Saidu Mudi of TUC and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital.

The statement noted that a series of meetings were vigorously held in respect of the above subject matter involving all the stakeholders on the best way to address the issues.

It also added that the two labour unions strongly condemned the act and expressed their dismay over the nonchalant attitude of the Zamfara State government to pay the salary of its workers for two consecutive months.

The statement further explained that having patiently waited for the salary to be paid, the two labour unions are calling on the state government to save the lives of their workers and that of their families.

“The two Labour forces are concerned about how aggrieved the State civil servants are, We, however, crave for their indulgence, support and cooperation as we move to fight for their rights,” the union said.
