With the Africa Cup of Nations set to begin in a 100 days time , the head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro has given an insight into what his team will look like at the tournament, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

The coach who signed a short term deal to manage the Nigerian team to the tournament, has been given a target of reaching the semi final in order to get an extension of his contract for two years.

He is leaving no stone unturned in his bid to not just meet up with the target, but go a step further by winning the tournament which will take place in Cote d’Ivoire next year.

“We know that we have very good players. We want to build a good team, since it is very difficult, with the time we have, to form a well-organized team: with a good idea, a good system that can take advantage of the great players we have. They all come from different contexts and with the capacity they have, which is a lot, it is mandatory to do something that makes them happy”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.

“Build  an idea that everyone enjoys, which is the most important thing. So far things have gone well: first in the group, record of goals scored. We are very excited and we can make a great team to win the AFCON (African Cup of Nations), which is the great goal”, he further stated.

On his squad for the tournament, he said his idea will be selecting a team that will have enough numbers in defence, midfield and attack but admitted that the quality strikers at his disposal won’t all make it to the tournament.

“We talk about names, but for me we have a great team and quality in all positions. It’s true that by names in defence, we don’t have as much level with the forwards, but I have a lot of confidence in them. You have to make a team spirit in which they feel that everyone is there to win. Select the team for balance in all games.

” Unfortunately you can’t take all the strikers we have now to the tournament, which is sad because they are really good. For balance, we will take best to play together and win. I know for sure in my head my team for the tournament”, he rounded up saying.
