Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has cleared the air on the controversial inclusion of Ahmed Musa in the Super Eagles squad for AFCON 2022 qualifiers.
Ahead of back to back qualifiers games against Benin Republic and Lesotho, the coach named a 24 man squad that has clueless captain Ahmed Musa as part of the players.
His inclusion caused a lot of ripples with many questioning the smartness in including a player who last played football in October last year and is presently without a team following his failure to bag a short term deal with West Brom.
Rohr exclusively told LEADERSHIP Sports that the former CSKA Moscow striker would play no part in the last two group games.
“He is not in the list of 23-man but he is invited like a captain, not like a player of the list,” Rohr said.
“Nigerians should expect good football and qualifications for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations,” he concluded.
