Former Nigeria U17 star Akinwunmi Amoo has resumed training with Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia ahead of a possible loan move to the team that finished 6th last season from FC Copenhagen, OwnGoalNigeria.comreports.

Signed for big money last summer, he suffered a cruciate ligament injury which kept him out for the entirety of last season. He has now fully recovered and will be sent on loan to where he can get regular game time to boost his fitness and form.

FC Copenhagen’s communications manager, Jes Mortensen, confirms to Tipsbladet that Amoo is currently training on trial with the Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia, who are currently on a training camp in Poland.

The idea of his loan move was facilitated by Jesper Jansson, who is now the sporting director of the Cyprus outfit and gave Amoo his first professional contract, while occupying the same role at Swedish side Hammarby.

A decision on the 21 year old is expected to be made in two weeks time but all parties involved are hopeful of reaching an agreement for a season long loan deal. His contract with FC Copenhagen runs till the summer of 2026.
