Arsenal vs Liverpool: Michael Owen predicts Community Shield clash

Ex-Liverpool striker, Michael Owen, is backing his former team to beat Arsenal in the Community Shield on Saturday.

The Gunners, who won the FA Cup, will face Premier League champions in this year’s traditional curtain raiser at Wembley.

Arsenal beat Jurgen Klopp’s men in July as the season came to a close and only returned to training on Monday.

Owen, speaking with BetVictor, feels Liverpool will edge the game, as they have better match sharpness having been away at a training camp in Austria.

“Despite all the talk of this being a glorified friendly, both teams will be very keen to start their season with a win.

“And I really fancy an entertaining game with plenty of goals,” he said.
