Africa’s football governing body, Confederation of African Football  (CAF), has rated former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha as one of the continent’s most talented dribblers.

The Premier League, on their verified Twitter handle uploaded a shot clip of Okocha with a short message: “OnThisDay in 2002, @OfficialBWFC signed the one and only @IAmOkocha.”

Reacting to a Premier League tweet on the anniversary of Okocha’s switch to Bolton Wanderers on 18 June 2002, CAF stressed that Okocha was among Africa’s best legs.

“One of the @NGSuperEagles & Africa’s most talented dribblers:@IAmOkocha”

Interestingly, the 46-year-old Okocha joined Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2002 after the FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan.

Okocha’s exploits helped Bolton avoid relegation with seven goals, including the Goal of the Season in the vital league win against West Ham United .

The goal against West Ham was voted Bolton’s best Premier League goal in a fans vote in 2008.

The next campaign Okocha was handed the captain’s armband following Guðni Bergsson’s retirement.
