The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has blocked the interim coach of the Super Eagles Austine Eguavoen from altering the already submitted provisional list of players for the Africa Cup of Nations, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Sacked coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has already submitted a provisional list of 37 players to CAF but Eguavoen who replaced him as coach in interim capacity wanted to add some players to the list.

CAF however replied the coach that it won’t be possible to add new names to the list but injured players can be replaced and for now Nigeria have only one injured player in Paul Onuachu who isn’t ruled out of the tournament yet.

The decision means the five names proposed by Eguavoen which includes Kelechi Nwakali of Huesca face a daunting task of getting into the list unless picked as replacement for Onuachu if he is declared unfit to represent Nigeria at the tournament.
