After securing automatic promotion to the Premier League in 2019, Wilder and Sheffield United impressed in the top flight last season as they finished ninth in the table and were never in danger of relegation.

The Blades, after securing promotion to the top flight in 2019 and finishing 9th last season have struggled this term and currently sit bottom of the Premier League and 12 points adrift of safety.

The Times reports that Wilder is expected to meet with Sheffield United’s hierarchy today to discuss the terms of his departure.

Wilder told reporters last week that he has been frozen out of conversations at the club.

Asked if he will remain at the club next season, Wilder replied: “I don’t know.

“We always plan short, medium and long term, but that plan is determined by other people than me.

“I’ve not had those conversations. I think they should be happening, but they’re not happening.”
