There are doubts surrounding the future of Nigeria international winger Samuel Chukwueze at Spanish LaLiga side Villarreal with one year left in his deal at the club, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
His current will run out next summer and with no talks over an extension to his current deal, it is believed that both the player and the club are open to his departure this season, with the club keen on not losing him for free in one year time.
Despite the speculations around his future, the 24 year old yesterday returned to Villarreal for the start of pre season training and underwent a routine medical, alongside the club’s new signings and some of his old teammates.
Meanwhile, as first reported by OGN, a Italian giants AC Milan are the closest to signing the winger with personal terms already agreed between both parties. The move is been held up by the demands of Villarreal, who want a fee of around €30m.
AC Milan’s opening offer was €10m short of Villarreal’s demand but they are now expected to return with an improved offer, which many believe will be close to what the Spanish side wants.
