Facebook, world’s biggest social network, has announced plans to give each of its 45,000 full-time employees $1,000 bonus to help them during the global crisis over coronavirus.
According to The Information, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, disclosed this in an internal company memo circulated on Tuesday.
Also contained in the memo were other incentives for the workers aside the cash bonus, with Zuckerberg announcing they would be given an “exceeds” rating each for their six-month 2020 review.
The social media giant’s CEO also announced, in the memo, that the company will pay contractors in full, even if they aren’t able to do their jobs from home.
He also said that the company was weighing how to provide ample time for its employees to enable them take care of their families during the outbreak.
“I know this is an incredibly stressful time for everyone, and I appreciate everything you’re all doing to adapt, take care of yourselves and your families, and make sure we can keep providing important social and communications infrastructure for billions of people around the world,” he was quoted as saying in the memo.
This comes about the same time when Facebook announced in a blog post it is offering $100 million in cash grants and ad credits to small businesses to help during what it called “challenging time.”
According to the company, up to 30,000 small businesses around the world will be eligible for the grants and ad credits.
