The Nigeria U17 team started their campaign at the ongoing WAFU Africa U17 Cup of Nations qualifiers on the wrong foot by losing 0-1 to Côte d’Ivoire.

Nigeria were for large spell of the game second best as the Ivorians dominated the game with Nigeria’s goalkeeper Destiny Emuwahem denying them the chance to go ahead.

They however found the breakthrough 14 minutes from full time scoring what ended as the lone goal and decider of the game which is the first in the group.

Ivory Coast now leads the group with three points with the Nigerian team coached by Fatai Amoo needing a victory in their next game against Ghana to keep their hope of picking a ticket to the Africa U17 Cup of Nations alive.
