Delta: Dying vigilante’s statement helps Police nab alleged killer

The Police Command in Delta has confirmed the arrest of a young man over the alleged murder of a vigilante.

The Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, stated on Wednesday.

The spokesman disclosed that the suspect, a 25-year-old man, admitted he was a member of the gang that attacked the deceased.

The victim, Onajite Okolejo, a member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Zone 12, Hausa Quarters in Warri, was ambushed on April 4.

The Divisional Police Officer ‘A’ Division Warri, CSP Tanko Mammud mobilised a patrol team to the scene and took the victim to the hospital.

“The victim made a dying declaration at the hospital that one of the suspects that attacked him was one Sahlisu whose surname was unknown”, the statement read.

Bright added that through intelligence gathering, “Mohammed (believed to be the surname) was arrested and has confessed”.

The Police said operatives were on the trail of other suspects. The command urged members of the public to provide credible information.
