On loan Benfica defender Tyronne Ebuehi says his decision to play for Nigeria instead of waiting for the Netherlands has earned him respect in his career.
The 24 year old decided to switch to Nigeria in 2016 and he has since gone on to play at the World Cup in 2018 but missed out on a chance to be a part of the squad for the 2019 AFCON due to injury.
Now out on loan to Dutch side FC Twente he has regained his spot in the senior national team of Nigeria and he is now in line to add to his nine caps for the senior national team of Nigeria.
Rated as one of the shining light of a Twente team that has surprised all so far this season with their brand of football in the Netherlands, Ebuehi says switching to Nigeria has helped his career blossomed.
“ Playing at the World Cup for Nigeria earned me a lot of respect. I wouldn’t have been this happy if I have waited for the Netherlands. It’s a decision that I made and it has helped my career because a lot of people respect me now “.
