American Billionaire Elon Musk has got himself trending on popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter, after he tweeted that he wants to buy English football club, Manchester United.

Manchester United Football Club, commonly referred to as Man United, or simply United, is a professional football club based in the Old Trafford area of Greater Manchester, England.

The club has won major football honors but they are currently having a setback with the new season after losing their first two games to Brighton and Brentford.

Musk, who is worth around 265.7 billion USD was in the midst of a political ideology discussion, when he suddenly posted that he is buying the club who are currently bottom of the Premier League.

He wrote, “Also, I’m buying Manchester United ur welcome”.

His tweet quickly garnered attention from fans who really wanted it to happen but they were later left disappointed when he added that he was only joking.

A Twitter user asked him – Are you serious?

He replied – No, this is a long-running joke on Twitter. I’m not buying any sports teams.
