EPL is very fast, you still need to learn – Pochettino tells struggling Chelsea star

Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino, has urged the club’s winger to learn how to play in the Premier League because the English top-flight league is very fast.

Mudryk has struggled to justify his £88 million transfer fee since joining Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January.

The 22-year-old has shown glimpses of his brilliance down the flanks, particularly with his pace and dribbling skills.

But the Ukraine international is yet to score for Chelsea in his 21 games across competitions for the Blues.

Speaking after Chelsea’s Premier League 0-0 draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, Pochettino also insisted that Mudryk is ‘improving’ but emphasised that the player needs time.

“He [Mudryk] is improving. He still needs to learn in the Premier League, it is very fast,” Pochettino told Sky Sports.

“He needs to understand the game better, try to be more connected with the team sometimes. We need to give him time and tools for him to improve during the season.”

Mudryk signed an eight-and-a-half-year deal in January.

His appearance against Bournemouth was his first start for Chelsea this season.
