Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino, has explained why his team defeated Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 in Monday’s Premier League tie.
Recall that a goal from Cole Palmer and a hat-trick from Nicolas Jackson gave Chelsea an away win to end Tottenham’s unbeaten run in the league this season.
The victory over Tottenham means Chelsea are now in 10th position on the Premier League table with 15 points from 11 games.
Speaking at his post-match press conference after the game, Pochettino said that Chelsea defeated Spurs because his players forced the hosts to make mistakes during the encounter after conceding an early goal in the first-half.
“We forced them to make mistakes, but Tottenham was better in the first 15 minutes,” Pochettino said.
“We are still building something; we need time to come against a team full of confidence and to concede after we started the game really badly.
“We were calm afterwards and forced them to make a mistake.”
