Former England striker, Wayne Rooney, has snubbed the Three Lions and named France as the favourite country to win this year’s Euro 2020.

Rooney believes France are clear favourites to win the Euro 2020 ahead of England, Portugal and Belgium because of their quality, experience and track record as world champions.

France are in Group F alongside Germany, Hungary and Portugal.

The Euro 2020 will kick off on June 11 – 11 July, 2021.

“England are among a group of four teams that stand above the rest in terms of prospects at Euro 2020. Portugal and Belgium are in there too, but my clear favourites are France,” Rooney told The Times.

“Kylian Mbappe, N’Golo Kante, Karim Benzema, Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba, Raphael Varane, Hugo Lloris: you look at their quality, experience and track record as world champions and realise that if their players turn up, they will win the tournament, no problem.”
