The form of Napoli and Nigeria international forward Victor Osimhen has sent fears down to the minds of defenders in the Italian Serie A, with his all battering style of play according to ex Inter Milan and Nigeria international defender Taribo West.
Osimhen has scored eight goals in nine games this season in the Serie A with five coming in his last four games. Since he returning from injury he has scored in every league game he has played.
Reacting to his form, Taribo West says it’s now too easy for him as he strikes fear in the mind of defenders who don’t know what to expect when they face him. He said Osimhen has no particular style hence it’s hard to keep him in check when he is in full flight.
” I think defenders are scared of him. It’s very clear to see from the way he is scoring the goals. They don’t know how to defend against him because he can run, he can shoot, he can head the ball, he can dribble and also takes up very good positions in the box. He is now a more rounded striker”, West told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
West said he is provoking memories of former World footballer of the year George Weah, who is now the president of Liberia. According to West back then playing against Weah leaves defenders with too much to do because of his unpredictable abilities.
” Osimhen is a bit similar to Weah. I faced Weah couple of times and almost all time he comes up with something different. They are very similar and defenders are not comfortable with strikers who have it all in several ways. If he powers Napoli to the title then the cycle is complete”,he concluded.
