Ezenwa Replaces Akpeyi In Super Eagles Squad For AFCON 2021 Qualifiers

Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has called up Ikechukwu Ezenwa as a replacement for Daniel Akpeyi who has been ruled out of the game for reasons not known for now.

Already Ezenwa has arrived the camp of the team in Benin City ahead of the back to back gameS against Sierra Leone in Nigeria and Sierra Leone respectively as the race for a spot in AFCON 2021 hots up.

Ezenwa was on the standby list alongside Francis Uzoho of Anorthosis Famagusta but despite not playing a game in eight months he was picked by Rohr due to time constraints.

In the camp he will slug it out with the duo of Maduka Okoye and Sebastian Osigwe for the role of first choice with Okoye expected to keep goal after impressing in the last friendly games of the team against Algeria and Tunisia.

Furthermore he has also been the first choice goalkeeper of his Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam where he kept a clean sheet last weekend as they claim their first win of the season.
