The media adviser to President Buhari Femi Adesina, has defended President Buhari’s speech, as he claims the Lekki shooting was not omitted.
According to him, Buhari couldn’t have said anything about Lekki Massacre because it would be premature and presumptuous while the investigation is ongoing.
In an interview with Channels Television on Friday night, he argued that the criticized speech made by the president, adequately met Nigerians’ demands.
He stated that President Buhari did not speak on the Lekki shootings because the Lagos State government and Nigerian defense headquarter is yet to complete investigation on the Lekki shooting.
Recall that many Nigerians on social media, condemned president Buhari for falling to speak on the Lekki shooting carried out by the Nigerian military.
A meeting held virtually by President Buhari was attended by Nigeria’s immediate past leaders, Goodluck Jonathan Olusegun Obasanjo, Yakubu Gowon, among others.
Mr Adesina, said that the past leaders in attendance and most especially Mr Obasanjo, only praised Buhari’s speech on Thursday and made some recommendations.
“He said the speech was quite good and the country has been waiting for it. He mentioned specific things in the speech which he felt were very good. He then made his recommendation going forward, particularly in the area of economy and security,” the media aide said, dismissing the claim that people are outraged against President Buhari-led administration.
“The thing about Nigeria is that there are 200 million of us and 200 million people will not see things the same way. And each will have a right to the way it sees things” Femi Adesina said
