Nigeria international defender Tyronne Ebuehi marked his return to top league football after more than two years with a commanding display for FC Twente as they kick off their season with a 2-0 win over Fortuna Sittard in the Dutch Eredivisie.

His last top flight league game was on the 14th of April 2018 when he played for ADO against FC Twente. Same team he marked his return with as a loan player from Benfica in search of regular run of games to build his fitness after two years of injury and fitness issues.

Last season he played six games for the B team of Benfica in the Portuguese second division as he ease his way back to full fitness but he suffered a set back which kept him out for the rest of the season.

The 24 year old appears to have buried the demons of that injury hit period of his career as he came through the 75 minutes that he was on unscathed. He was his usually self as well.

He joined the attack with ease and also defended when under attack. A regular run of game will no doubt see him back in the frame of a return to the senior national team of Nigeria as coach of the team Gernot Rohr is a big fan of his abilities.
