With qualification for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations already sealed two days ago. The senior national team of Nigeria will head into tomorrow’s game against Lesotho with the luxury of having to rest some regular players.
Coach Gernot Rohr’s team maintained their nine match unbeaten run in Africa qualifiers with the 1-0 win over Benin Republic despite securing qualification before the game.
Rohr can now decide to try our some players who didn’t get to play in the game against Benin Republic considering the not too important nature of the game. Here are five changes Rohr should consider making for the game.
Francis Uzoho For Maduka Okoye – Although Okoye consolidated his position as first choice with a clean sheet against Benin Republic. It will be wise for Rohr to make competition for that role stiffer by giving Uzoho another chance to stake a claim for the first choice spot.
Tyronne Ebuehi For Ola Aina – Ebuehi has shown that he is a useful squad player but he need to get some minutes under his belt and also boost his international appearances. Aina should be given a rest for the man who was the fan favourite during the 2018 World Cup.
Anayo Iwuala For Samuel Chukwueze– This looks like one sure change the coach will make with the way Anayo imposed himself during the cameo he had against Benin Republic. Chukwueze should be given a rest for the Enyimba man.
Jamilu Collins For Zaidu Sanusi– Sanusi showed Why he is currently ahead of Collins with a man of the match display against Benin Republic. A chance for Collins to stake a claim to regain his position should be the game against Lesotho.
Chidozie Awaziem For Troost Ekong – Awaziem came for this games in one of his best form ever owing to his performance for Boavista this season. He deserve a chance to show that against Lesotho in his favorite position not as a right back like he did against Benin Republic. Ekong should get a rest.
