Swiss side FC Lugano progressed to their second consecutive Swiss Cup final after a 5-3 penalty shoot out win over Servette after both teams stayed tied at 2-2 after extra time, OGN reports.

The hero for Lugano was goalkeeper Sebastian Osigwe who hasn’t been called up to the senior national team of Nigeria for almost three years now. All three times he has been called up he wasn’t handed his debut.

Yesterday, he showed how useful he can be to the Nigerian set by stopping two spot kicks during penalty shot out to seal a spot in the final for his team. It was his tenth game of the season in all competitions this season.

In the league he has kept in seven games and yesterday’s game where he was the hero of the game was his third in the Cup and it is one that he will want to remember for a while. It could also be the game that puts him in the frame for another call up to the senior national team of Nigeria.

Super Eagles are having a mini crisis in the area of goalkeepers with first choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho suspended for the next AFCON qualifiers games against Sierra Leone. The back up choices during the last international games Chijioke Anigboso and Victor Sochima  were both getting a call up to the team for the first time.

No doubt, coach of the team Jose Peseiro won’t be willing to risk the aforementioned duo paving the way for the 29 year old Osigwe to be in the conversation for a possible debut for the Super Eagles. The Swiss born shot stopper was also a part of the Nigeria U20 team in 2013.
