Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has put in a word for fast rising left fullback of Scottish side Rangers Calvin Bassey to be a part of the senior national team of Nigeria, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.

Bassey has impressed since joining the Scottish side with his ability to fill in at left back and also central defence making him ever present in the squad of the team.

He tried to be a part of the Nigerian team for the U20 World Youth Championship while he was playing for the youth team of Leicester City but he wasn’t considered due to other options ahead of him.

He has however grown from that incident and he is still keen on representing Nigeria with Owngoalnigeria.com aware of Gernot Rohr’s interest in him, thanks to former Nigeria U20 coach Paul Aigbogun who briefed him on the player.

We gathered Balogun who plays in same team as Bassey has also told Rohr about the quality the 20 year old possesses and all that is left is for the Franco German coach to hand a call up to the rising left back.
