Hammarby Chief scout Mikael Hjelmberg has opened door of a potential exit for 2019 Nigeria U17 winger Akinkumi Amoo to join English Premier League side Leicester City.
The Foxes are among several clubs interested in signing the 18 year old who has emerged as one of the surest prospect in the league lately.
With four goals in seven games, teams like Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Ajax have also been linked with his services.
Speaking on the various interests Hjelmberg said clubs have been in contact over the winger who is valued at four million euros but they are not interested.
However the clubs sporting director Jesper Jansson disagrees suggesting that a move could well be on the cards for the coveted winger.
“Clubs have been in touch and asked if we would be interested in discussing the conditions for a transfer. And we’re not.”
“It’s probably not impossible, but it’s not something we want,” Jansson told Fotbollskanalen. “I want to be clear about that.
“The ambition is for us to see the players at Hammarby and see them play at Tele2 Arena and contribute here before they take the next step.
“You should never say never, but the ambition is to win football matches and be as good as possible, not just buy and sell.
“I heard some talk about it (Amoo transfer speculation and price tag) a few days ago, but there is a little too much focus on it. Basically, we want to win football matches and get as high up in the table as possible
“The main focus should not be on buying and selling players but on making Hammarby better and winning titles. I do not want to be dragged into constantly selling someone as soon as someone comes.
“The focus is on performance on the field and making Hammarby better.”
Amoo’s current contract at Hammarby runs until 2024.
