The performance of Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire hasn’t gone unnoticed, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Semi Ajayi has emerged as the first name on the team sheet for Nigeria at the tournament with top performance in the first two games of the team at the tournament. He was top in the 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea and also the 1-0 win against the host.
He is expected to start again today when they take on Guinea-Bissau in their final group game and Ambrose Efe, a winner of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles says he has been the best defender at the tournament.
” For now I think Semi Ajayi goes in as the best defender at the AFCON and I am speaking from a position of my conviction because I have watched virtually all the games”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
” You look at the tackles he has won, passes from the back, aerial and ground duels as well. Many people don’t see that because of the way he goes about it. A lot don’t even know that he is quick. I mean deceptively quick hence he hasn’t lost any foot race. For a guy with that height he has won me over”.
