A Nigerian lady who identifies as @ani_berny has shared via her page on the microblogging platform X why she stopped speaking to an admirer.
She revealed that the man had shared a post on his WhatsApp status that read “If you hit her and she apologizes, borrow money from the bank and marry her.”
It was a case of domestic violence that she was addressing on the platform that had triggered her to share her experience.
Sharing screenshots of their exchanged messages in multiple tweets, she shared that he saw nothing wrong with hitting a woman.
Adding that the woman apologizing to her partner after being slapped is a sign of humility and respect.
She wrote;
“I once trashed a talking stage because from his status I knew he’d be a potential woman beater, we always see these signs but we wait for it to manifest to wonders. I hardly share my private chats but I’ll break the silence today. Kindly read the nonsense below Imagine someone boldly saying if you hit a girl and she kneels to beg you, you should marry her. I don’t know how people start dating monstrous human beings. Imagine a fool still bragging that he said the bitter truth.”
