Borrowing a few lines from one of Adekunle Gold’s hit songs ‘Kelegbe Megbe’, Zlatan Ibile has thrown subtle shade at his contenders for the Headies Awards 2019 ‘Next Rated’ category.
The Headies organisers released the full nominations list for the 2019 edition of the award event with Zlatan Ibile appearing on the ‘Next Rated’ category alongside Rema, Fireboy DML, Joeboy, Lyta and Victor AD.
Zlatan who has been in the industry, making music before his other challengers on the category broke out to limelight, has claimed seniority over them in an apparent reaction to the category.
Commenting on the ‘Next Rated’ category, Zlatan took to his instagram page to diss other nominees on the list, saying; “We fit they the same School! Mago Our Department no be the same O ! #KELEGBEMOEGBE O Ayiiiiii”
Some of Zlatan fans on social media have expressed their displeasures for Headies organisers for nominating the street rapper in such category and tagged it as being a slap on the ‘Zanku’ crooner’s face. Although, Zlatan was nominated in other categories, but the ‘Next Rated’ nod got major attention among his fans.
Zlatan neither rejected nor accepted the nomination, unlike Tekno Miles who rejected his nomination in the category because he felt insulted by it. Tekno in 2016, was nominated with Ycee, Aramide, Humblesmith and Mr Eazi, but was later disqualified from the category after he refused to participate in activities slated for the ‘Next Rated’ category nominees.
