Joel Ideho introduced himself to fans of Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam in spectacular fashion with a sublime chip from over 25 yards to round up a comprehensive 3-1 win for Ajax U19 against Midtjylland.

The 16 year old was handed his debut in the semi final game of the UEFA Youth League in August with 20 minutes left to play in the game. Ideho stunned everyone watching when he lobbed the goalkeeper with an incredible effort from range.

Although Ajax didn’t make it to the final, Ideho who was signed from Willem II in April has already made his mark as one of the top teen to keep an eye on from the famous Ajax Academy.

A right winger who can also play as a striker, he shunned offers from Hertha Berlin and Southampton to move to Ajax as he aim to follow in the footsteps of Barcelona midfield maestro Frenkie de Jong who joined the Ajax Academy from Willem II.

Largely referred to as a citizen of the Netherlands, he confirmed his Nigerian roots in a private chat made available to Owngoalnigeria.com. He minced no words when asked about his Nigerian roots.

He hasn’t been capped by both nations at any level leaving him open to the idea of playing for any of them in the nearest future but for now his aim is on making his mark at Ajax.
