A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to lament over the ban of Styrofoam popularly known as take-aways used to package cooked meals. She shared as a result of the ban, someone known to her has suffered stroke.
Recall in January,2024, that the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources announced a ban on the usage and distribution of Styrofoam because of the environmental pollution the take-away packs causes on water drainage and canals.
In the trending video, the lady @ayinkemine on TikTok lamented on how someone she knows is now diagnosed with stroke as a result of the ban on take-away packs. She stated while recording a store loaded with take-away packs, that a lot of people have invested large amount of money into the distribution of Styrofoam and the government should have taken necessary steps before they approved the production of Styrofoam
She said; “Our Government will not be able to handle the effect of this ban. They should have investigated this before allowing the companies to produce. People have invested in it and some people have a stroke because of the loss”
She captioned;
“I get person wey don get stroke ontop say they want to banned this form pack takeaway”
