Top Italian journalist Luca Cerchione has revealed why French Ligue 1 giants are confident of signing Nigeria international forward Victor Osimhen from Napoli, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.

Paolo Bargiggia was the first Italian journalist to write about PSG interest in signing a player of Napoli ahead of the start of next season and Cerchione has now revealed the identity of the player as Osimhen and talks took place few days ago.

He said the move is powered by PSG’s coach Christophe Galtier who had Osimhen as his player for a year at Lille, the club’s sporting director Luis Campos is also a big admirer of the forward as he also wanted to sign him while he was at the helm of recruitment at Monaco.

“During the trip to Paris a few days ago, Giuntoli spoke not only of Fabian Ruiz and Navas with PSG, but also of Victor Osimhen, highly regarded by Galtier and by sporting director Campos. The French have an option for next season ,” said the journalist.

Napoli will however maintain their push for Osimhen to sign an extension but will consider letting him leave if he turns it down. He is three years into the five year deal at the club and although he said he wants to stay at the club longer he still hasn’t committed to them.
