Kano Emirate suspends ward head for alleged involvement in selling of baby boy

The Village Head of Sabon Gari in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano Ya’u Mohammad has been suspended for his alleged involvement in the sale of a one-year-old boy.

The monarch was accused of involving in the alleged sale of the toddler in connivance with the Hisbah Commander of Fagge Local Government.

Muhammad Umar, the secretary to the Galadiman Kano Abbas Sunusi, announced the suspension on Tuesday in Kano.

Mr. Umar said the council decided to suspend Mr. Ya’u pending the outcome of an investigation by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

The NAPTIP is investigating Mr. Ya’u alongside the Fagge Hisbah commander Jamilu Yusuf for allegedly selling a baby to a woman for N20,000.
