Lyon have dropped their asking price for Houssem Aouar, with Arsenal closing in on a deal, ESPN reports.

The Ligue 1 side will reject the Gunners’ opening £32million bid, but expect them to return with an improved offer.

Lyon chiefs initially demanded £55m for Aouar, but have now reduced that figure to between £36-41m, which is not far away from Arsenal’s opening offer.

The French club has forced to lower their demands for the playmaker, due to the COVID-19 pandemic impacting their finances.

Arsenal are actively trying to offload Lucas Torreira to Atletico Madrid or Italy, in a bid to raise the funds required to sign Aouar.

Aouar is keen on a move to the Emirates and will agree to a transfer if the two clubs can thrash out terms.
