Manchester United are considering a €10 million (£8.4m) bid for Barcelona forward Memphis Depay, according to reports in Spain.

Depay has held extensive talks with Juventus this month and appeared to be closing in on a move to the Serie A club.

But Juve have been put off by Depay’s salary demands and they have now found an alternative by agreeing a €2m (£1.6m) loan deal with Marseille for their Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik.

Depay was ready to terminate his contract with Barcelona, which still has a year remaining, while Juventus were not due to pay a transfer fee as they were willing to waive bonus payments owed to them by Barca as part of the Miralem Pjanic deal.

According to Marca, United have been monitoring the situation and are now weighing up a €10m (£8.4m) offer to Barca for Depay.

Barcelona are desperate to get both Depay and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang off their wage bill in order to register new €55m (£46.4m) summer signing Jules Kounde.

Depay, who has not appeared in either of Barcelona’s La Liga games this season, has also been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer.

The Netherlands international was initially signed by United in a £25m deal from PSV in 2015 but he spent just one full season at Old Trafford before he was allowed to join Lyon.

Erik ten Hag is keen to improve his attacking options before the transfer window closes and United are expected to submit a new offer for Ajax winger Antony.

United are also weighing up a move for PSV’s Cody Gakpo, who is valued at £35m.

It’s understood that both Gakpo and Antony are both keen on joining United this summer.
