Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi has become the most decorated footballer ever, after winning his first trophy at the club on Saturday.

Messi led Inter Miami to beat Nashville in the Leagues Cup final after a thrilling penalty shootout.

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona forward broke the deadlock with a stunning long-range strike in the first half.

Messi’s goal, though, was cancelled out by Fafa Picault in the second half, who slotted home from close range as the match eventually ended in a 1-1 draw.

Inter Miami went on to win 10-9 via penalty to win the Leagues Cup.

By spearheading Inter Miami to victory, Messi got his hands on the 44th trophy of his illustrious career so far and the first of his Inter Miami stint – making him the most decorated footballer of all time.
