Yesterday, #Nobraday was marked globally which serves as an awareness day against breast cancer.

TheDabigal Lifestyle reached out to Miss Nancy Nsofor, the reigning Miss Tourism Ogun Queen and AllGirls Foundation CEO. She shared our near cancer experience with us which she was able to avoid due to early detection. Read her story below

Four years ago, one morning I started having this chronic headache and pain in my right breast, affecting my back, I can’t figure out what could have caused this, but I know the discomfort was much that I had to cut my hair off. Two weeks gone, I was using all kinds of pain relief but the pain kept increasing. Then I noticed my right breast was becoming very heavy. I complained to a nurse, and she said, she would have to take me to the hospital for proper examination. We got to the hospital and the doctor examined my breast and said he felt some lumps which are normal but the abnormal issue is, the lumps are not supposed to be painful.

He finally placed me on another set of pain relief drugs for 2 weeks and said if the pain continues, he would advise I do a lump removal surgery to avoid the lump from growing to be cancerous. After 2 weeks I did the surgery and escaped a cancer-related health issue and cancer-free. I was able to quickly detect this through my self-examination and monthly check-up.

I will advise ladies to follow all health tips, do a monthly check-up as this really helps.
Don’t wear a tight bra, all in the name of push up, don’t wear a bra to sleep, always clean your nipples as this would help you to notice any discharge on time.
Reduce sugar and fatty intake (in other words eat healthily) because to me, my breast is my pride
