Rapper Nicki Minaj has called out the organizers of the Grammy Awards for not giving her the award for the Best New Artiste in 2012.
The category for Best New Artiste in 2012 had Nicki Minaj, Skrillex, J. Cole, The Band Perry and the eventual winner Bon Iver.
Lashing out at the organizers shortly after the released of the nominations for the 2020 Grammy Awards, the rapper revealed that she deserved the award at the time.
“Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on Billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade—went on to inspire a generation,” she wrote on Twitter.
“They gave it to the white man Bon Iver. #PinkFriday.”
