The Super Eagles of Nigeria picked up their first friendly win since 2019 with a 3-2 win over ten man Mozambique in what was their second game in preparation for the start of the qualifiers for the World Cup in November.
Francis Uzoho – Was partly responsible for the goal conceded. Grew into the game afterwards. Not at fault for the second goal although his reaction could have been better….. 5/10
Osayi-Samuel – Ran the right flank with ease, combined his defensive duties with marauding overlapping runs….. 7/10
Bruno Onyemaechi- Should have done better for the cross that led to the goal. Bar that incident he was solid, however it was his foul that led to the second goal for Mozambique….. 6/10
Kenneth Omeruo – Had a very good commanding performance. Ensured that Osayi-Samuel got enough cover to bomb forward…… 7/10
Jordan Torunarigha – Showed good understanding of his role as the left sided defender. Didn’t look out of his place despite playing his first game for the team. Rapidly quick in recoveries and likes a tackle…… 7/10
Raphael Onyedika – Mopped everything in his role in front of defence. Allowed Frank Onyeka the license to bomb forward frequently. A very good performance from the Club Brugge man….. 7/10
Frank Onyeka – His best game in a Super Eagles shirt by far. Easily the man of the match and deservedly got a goal after having two good efforts saved……. 8.5/10
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru – Understood his role wide on the right and kept it simple. Had a hand in the equalizer by Moffi and also the second goal by Onyeka. Did a whole lot of good to his chances of getting another invitation…… 6/10
Joe Aribo – Battled really hard in the middle and put his body where it hurts. Not the “Royce Royce’ kind of performance he is known for but a huge step up from his previous showings….. 6/10
Moses Simon – Drives the team with his energetic runs and defensive contributions. Took his penalty really well and was lively as usual…….. 8/10
Terem Moffi – Showed a real determination to get on the score sheet and he did. Made sure the defence of Mozambique had no rest and on the strength of his performance might be back in the squad in November….. 7/10
