Nigerian forces have commenced a major operation against bandits and other criminal elements in Kano.
The 1 Division in conjunction with the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, local vigilantes and hunters are carrying out the clearance of Falgore forest and other hotspots.
The raid is complementing the efforts of the troops at Forward Operating Base Falgore, Army spokesman Mohammed Yerima said in a statement.

The joint operation seeks to stop outlaws from infiltrating other parts of Kano.
Yerima, a Brigadier General, assured the people of the safety of their lives and property.
The statement urged them to report suspicious movements of strange individuals or groups in their areas.
