The club future of out of Super Eagles forward Josh Maja is still up in the balance with Scottish side Rangers said to be keen on recruiting him to fortify their attack for next season, OGN understands.
Maja has 16 goals and 6 assists for promotion chasing Bordeaux, who are second on the Ligue 2 log with three matches to go but face a huge task of holding off third on the table Metz as one point is what separates them.
24 year old Maja will have his contract automatically extended if the team gains promotion back to Ligue 1, but if that doesn’t happen then he will be allowed to leave with his contract set to run out this summer.
Rangers are keen on getting the Nigerian as a replacement for Alfredo Morelos who is set to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer. Maja was even asked about the interest from Rangers and the likelihood of his exit from the club.
“I can’t think about that at the moment. We have so many important games before the end of the season and I have to concentrate on that only.
“We’ll see what happens at the end of the season. I have to wait to hear what the management of this club says and whether they want to keep me.”
