Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro has hinted at who will likely pair Victor Osimhen in the attack of the senior national team of Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Osimhen is sure to lead the line for the Super Eagles at the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire next year but in the favourite 4-4-2 system of the coach , he is required to play alongside another striker in attack.
Since taking over as coach, Peseiro has paired Osimhen with four players in Terem Moffi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi and Victor Boniface lately.
Ahead of the tournament, he said playing a player in the position to liberate the main scorer in his set up is what he thinks Boniface has an edge to pair with the Napoli man in attack.
” Iheanacho, Moffi can play there unfortunately Awoniyi isn’t fit for this tournament. Boniface we can see can bring others to play with the number of assists in Germany and it is key to how we would like to give our main striker the chances to score. He also can score as well”, he said while reacting to a question on who will likely pair Osimhen.
